Peyronie’s Disease – Penile Straightening Procedure, Penile Plication
Peyronie’s Disease is a connective tissue disorder whereby fibrous plaques are deposited in the penis.
As these plaques form, pain with erection can result. The plaques cause the side of the penis affected to shorten when erect. It is this shortening from the plaques, which result in the curvature. After adequate penile blood flow at the time of erection is confirmed, surgical repair is considered when the curvature impacts the ability to have desirable intercourse.
When erectile dysfunction coexists with peyronie’s disease, placement of a inflatable three piece penile prosthesis is recommended.
